
The African Water Facility (AWF) is preparing to participate in the 9th World Water Forum to be held in Dakar, Senegal from March 21 to 26 2022, under the theme “Water Security for Peace and Development”.
This participation is part of AWF's efforts to advocate for the water security, which is a key requirement for sustainable development in Africa.
At the Forum, the AWF through paper presentations, posters, factsheets, brochures and audio-video documentaries, will share experiences, and lessons related to preparation of bankable projects for water resources management and development.
The AWF will host discussions on approaches for mobilizing funding for water infrastructure projects and for creating enabling environment for water management and development.
The AWF will also share experiences on improving knowledge generation and knowledge management systems, promoting transboundary water cooperation, building climate resilience in the water sector and promoting Citywide Inclusive Sanitation (CWIS).
The AWF further plans to organize side events at which it will join efforts with AMCOW to advocate for greater investment in the African water sector.
The World Water Forum is a large international gathering bringing together governments, cities and municipalities, water utilities, public and private companies, scholars, water experts, civil society organizations, donors and other stakeholders, to deliberate on water issues.
The World Water Council organises the World Water Forum every three years to help build a global consensus for action on water.
