The African Water Facility (AWF), in collaboration with the Gates Foundation - Technical Assistance Africa Hub and the Government of Sierra Leone, organized a virtual capacity building workshop on the Citywide Inclusive Sanitation (CWIS) approach.
The virtual workshop which took place from the 10-11 June 2021 aimed to facilitate an in depth understanding and knowledge sharing for key sanitation stakeholders in Freetown, on the CWIS principles, selected tools and practical implementation at city/municipality level.
The workshop also provided learning, innovation and sharing of best practices for the delivering inclusive sanitation services for low income urban vulnerable communities in informal settlements with specific reference to selected African Cities.
“Participants enjoyed the Citywide inclusive Sanitation discussion sessions. We hope that The CWIS knowledge and approach will enable us bridge these gaps and improve access to the best services. We need the CWIS approach in Sierra Leone to improve WASH sector coordination” said Engineer Francis H. Lahai.
