The African Water Facility (AWF) was present at the Multilateral Days event which held in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, on 13 and 14 June.

AWF’s coordinator, Mtchera Chirwa, participated in a roundtable on sanitation and spoke on AWF’s projects in Côte d'Ivoire and the region. He also informed participants about African Urban Sanitation Investment Initiative (AUSII) – a new initiative dedicated to inclusive urban sanitation in Africa – to be operationalized by AWF, and which will strengthen collaboration with the private sector in urban sanitation.

Multilateral Days aims to promote partnerships between Ivorian government, Spanish development partners and the private sector in Côte d'Ivoire and Spain. It is organized by ICEX Spain Export and Investment, and the Economic and Commercial Office of Spain in Côte d'Ivoire in collaboration with the Ivorian Ministry of Planning and Development.

On the margins of the sessions, Spain’s long-standing partnership and support to the African Water Facility and ways to strengthen it were discussed in meetings with Spanish representatives.

At the just concluded event, more than 25 Spanish companies participated and presented innovative projects and technologies, particularly in the water and sanitation sector.
