The African Water Facility promotes sustainable growth through climate resilient water resources development in Southern Africa

The African Water Facility (AWF) approved a grant of about €2 million to support a multinational transboundary project to prepare a Climate Resilient Water Resources Investment Strategy and Multipurpose Project for the Orange-Senqu River Basin, serving the population of Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia and South Africa. The main goal of this project is to promote sustainable socio-economic growth in the basin riparian countries through climate resilient water resources development in the framework of basin wide cooperation led by the Orange Senqu River Basin Commission (ORASECOM).

The African Water Facility Supports Mozambique’s resilience to climate change and reducing vulnerability to floods in Inhambane and Chimoio

The Government of the Republic of Mozambique and the African Water Facility (AWF) has entered into a grant agreement for a feasibility study on Urban Sanitation, Drainage and Solid Waste Management in Chimoio and Inhambane. The grant agreement was signed on 27th January 2017 by the Minister of Economy and Finance Adriano Afonso Maleiane and the Country Manager for the African Development Bank Joseph M. Ribeiro.The project was launched in workshops in Maputo on March 8, in Chimoio on March 9 and another one will be held in Inhambane on March 14.
